According to Chrysler, it’s Hellcat SRT has become worlds’ fastest production car. It has 707 hp upgraded engine which enables the Charger to run a quarter-mile in 11 seconds at 204 mile per hour. The company is very hopeful of changing its image of being a family car maker to one of the fastest and meanest car manufacturers with enough muscles to attract young customers.
Back in 2009 when Chrysler went under Fiat’s control, Dodge was doing well and the Ram trucks were being appreciated for their reliability and ruggedness. Dodge has always been thought of as a cheaper version of Chrysler, where the Dodge was built for working class and Chrysler for wealthy ones.
Fiat’s CEO Marchionne was so passionate about giving Dodge the vibe of muscle-car so he had to re-imagine 1960s Charger and Challenger. Both of these legends were designed to compete against Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang. They received an upgrade to power, styling and on-board technology.
The most amusing feature SRT has is the use of two keys where the red one will give you the capability to utilise full 707 horsepower whereas the black one will limit it to just 500 bhp.
You don’t have to worry about the increase in fuel prices as this new muscle car returns pretty good mileage, 22 mpg to be exact. Other muscle cars like the V8 Mustang GT Fastback returns 25 mpg and the V8 Camaro sits at 19 mpg.
