Mercedes’ current design language has a new definition, the all-new GLC-Class which is replacing its eight-year-old predecessor, the GLK-Class. A teaser sketch has recently been published by the German auto manufacturing giant Mercedes-Benz revealing the details of new GLC featuring a shield-shaped grille with two slat and elongated headlamps.
There is not much of a difference between GLC and C-Class if we talk mechanically, the entry-level will get benefit from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 241 hp and 229 lb-ft of torque. If you opt for an expensive version, you will get a 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbocharged engine 329 bhp churning out 354 foot-pounds of torque.
It is too early to tell yet if all-wheel drive will be optional or standard but one thing is clear, both Mercedes engines are going to use seven-speed automatic transmission. If you are willing to spend some extra money then you can have rear wheel drive standard GLC.
It has been revealed by some close sources that later on, the range-topping AMG-tuned models is going to join the production line. They are going to name it GLC 63 which is going to pack a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbocharged engine, capable of producing 469 horsepower in its initial state of tune by AMG.
The additional feature will be the lower suspension and upgraded brakes on all four wheels.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class is scheduled for its first public appearance in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show and will hopefully land in showrooms before the end of the year as a 2016 model.
