Audi is very popular for its world-class saloons and SUVs, rigged with some of the best technologies in the world. All new Audi Q7 – planned to go on sale sometime in 2016 – is all set to steal the hearts of quality music lovers. How? Well, thanks to the new 3D sound system which includes 23 specially built speakers, placed all around the compartment for realistic sound. You will now be able to enjoy your favourite tunes, much vivid and clearer than ever before with a spatial height.
Most of you will be taking this whole system as just specifically positioned the speakers, but it’s much more than that. It’s a combination of special speakers and an extremely complex algorithm, responsible of calculating the control signals and sending them to each speaker in a very precise and swift manner.
This highly sophisticated software uses a complex mathematical model that breaks the data from the music source down and separate its spatial modules. It is not as easy as it may sound, for example, the sound of an artist who sings at a stage, have different surfaces surrounding him, these surrounding surfaces like the floor, ceiling and walls, reflect the sounds at different time lapses. So the algorithm calculates these lapses and differentiate the control signals.
On the second stage of the process, these different sound portions are then reassembled as in original recording room piece. It is then sent to all 23 speakers through a digital signal processor that uses 11 channels to produce 3D sound. The 4 speakers placed in the A-pillars are the ones responsible for creating the special height.
A big news for sound lovers is that this new sound system is going to get either a Bose or Bang & Olufsen sound system. This new technology has been developed by Audi in partnership with Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits in Erlangen, Germany.
