Audi has kept its mark by offering super cars in a wide range of price that can be afforded by anyone. Audi R8 comes with all the characteristics of an everyday car as well as perks of a super car. Its drive is quite safe unlike most supercars that are uncomfortable and give you a scary ride.
R8 has a charged 5.2-liter V-10 engine under the hood. Driving this car gives you a feel of driving a race car. The engine is all powerful giving 610 horsepower output which is expected from it. The Audi engines has torque-y to keep the car safe at bending roads giving it the force that is needed.
It also has carbon ceramic brakes; 15-inch on the front and 14-inch at the back. It isn’t a turbocharged engine and gives you its racing and thumping which is a gift to your ears. Every sports car lover’s dream. Through push of a button, you can hear the sound of all 10 cylinders getting prepped up.
As you take hold of the pilot seat, in front of you is the steering wheel. Purely in a race car fashion, the steering is the way to access every function from starting the car, using navigation system and controlling the infotainment system. All is done through the wheel. You can start the car by mere push of a button and same is the case for revving up the exhaust volume of 10 cylinders. You can easily switch between different modes namely: “comfort,” “auto”, “individual”, “dynamic” mode. You can set mode choosing from dry, wet and snow according to the weather conditions.
The interior in a typical Audi styled affair. The quality of materials used is unbelievable. Seats are so comfortable and come with 18 levels of adjustment for the ease of passengers. The doors are simple and it is easy to ride on unlike those vertically opening doors.
The days are passed when there used to be gauges and needles for controlling your system. Audi has realized that the digital world today needs more enhanced functions. So, virtual cockpit is introduced with a 12.3-inch large display which gives driver all the assistance needed. The navigation is up and active with the push of a button on the steering. It readily uses Google Earth to show directions. This button was initially introduced in TT but afterwards became a part of other models including A4 and R8 itself.
The engine is mounted in front of rear axle i.e. just behind your head which means there is no trunk. But, you do get space for carrying some luggage in the front.
