All new Audi A3 gets massive refinements for the new generation. It is coming sale in May with new Audi petrol engines, new safety features and colossal infotainment systems. Audi will enjoy several visual changes as well where a refined face is most dominating and visible.
It has received a facelift and slightly wider grille, however, the headlamps are modified as narrower than before. There will be a saloon, hatchback and a sport version offered for sale from next month.
There are couple of new engines offered in the A3 engine line-up. However, 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine leads the engine fleet at A3 range. It delivers 188bhp of power and a torque of 320Nm from only 1,500 to 2,000 engine rpm. The outgoing A3 2.0-litre TFSI engine line-up used a six-speed dual clutch transmission.
While the current A3 2.0-litre petrol engines are coming with a six-speed dual clutch transmissions and however the new models will receive the seven-speed transmissions. The 2.0-litre TFSI is also available with an option of Quattro all-wheel drive.
Apart from the two engines discussed earlier, there is a great 1.4-litre turbo engine with 148bhp of power. It has the ability to perform better with cylinder deactivation technology. It shuts off two cylinders out of four whenever less power can do the trick. It saves fuel by shutting off the cylinders.
The all new Audi A3 diesel engine line-up starts from 1.6-litre TDI which is capable of generating 109bhp of power. Go further up in the diesel engines line-up, you will see a more powerful 2.0-litre TDI capable of producing 148bhp. In the same displacement category, there is an 181bhp version offered as a class leading unit.
Although Audi has yet to claim the fuel economies for these engines but it is confirmed that the automaker is well aware of euro 6 emission standards in the UK.
