BMW 3-Series is already highly popular but now it has got a mid-life refresh, along with equipment, comes a whole new series of engines to compete with rivals, like the new Jaguar XE. This is the new 335d M Sport and it sits above the diesel model range.
Pretty much of 3-series is now powered by four-cylinder engines, the new 318i petrol has a three-pot in it, but the range-topping models are still coming with six cylinders.
The 335d has an inline six-cylinder 3.0-litre BMW diesel engine with twin turbochargers, making 309bhp at 4400rmp and from 1500rpm, it produces a brutal 465 lb-ft of torque. It is available only with xDrive all-wheel drive and mated with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
This diesel estate takes only 4.8 seconds to hit 62mph, returns 49.6mpg of combined fuel economy and 151g/km of CO2 emissions.
BMW has made plenty of changes to the new 3-series, in the cabin too, but the driving position is highly adjustable and the drive has certainly improved. The notable improved is visible through the revised steering, accuracy and feedback has improved with a few degrees of steering input.
Particularly in Sport mode, the steering feels more natural at all speeds and the accuracy is satisfying.
The BMW 335d xDrive M Sport Touring costs £41,665 but as you pick the options, it may increase like the adaptive LED headlamps are worth £850, they are bright and adjust in such a way to avoid blinding the oncoming traffic.
If you want to feel a clear difference between the Sport and Comfort modes, go for the Adaptive M Sport suspension which will cost you £515. Opt for electric front seats for £945 and feel the comfort and supportiveness over long journeys.
